What you'd do

This position is located within various MWR Outdoor Recreation Facilities. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Area of Consideration This job is open to US Citizens and Non-Citizens residing within a 75-mile radius of West Point, NY. (Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.)

Major duties

Mows grass, lays sod, weeds flowerbeds, trims and edges walkways and lawns. Levels ground using pick, shovel, tamper and rake. Loads and unloads conveyances; moves materials using wheelbarrows, hand trucks or dollies; stacks and arranges supplies for storage; collects refuse and recyclable materials. Prunes shrubs and trees; applies fertilizer, waters plants, cleans out drainage ditches, shovels snow from walks and driveways. Adjusts, cleans, oils and changes attachments on machines. Cleans rugs and drapes. Cleans, waxes and polishes floors using heavy industrial-powered equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.

What you need to qualify

A qualified candidate must possess the following: 1. Three (3) months of laboring experience required. This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. 2. Must have the ability use, control and clean tools and power equipment used. 3. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps without constant supervisor of each task assigned. It is recommended these skills be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE: Manual skill to lift and move moderately heavy objects. Skill and knowledge to safely operate simple power equipment and hand tools (lawn mowers, leaf blowers, edges and trimmers, scrubbers and buffers, steam cleaners and vacuums). A basic knowledge is required of routine maintenance procedures for power equipment. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics.
