SUPERVISORY RECREATION ASSISTANT (OUTDOOR RECREATION)

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation, Schriever SFB CO. This position is Regular Full Time and include benefits. Must be able to lift and carry items up to 75 pounds. Occasional travel is expected.
Major duties
Assists the Manager in the development of recreational activities. Promotes, organizes, schedules, and conducts programs, facility maintenance, special events, and daily staff activities. Leads or oversees programs and outings to include ensuring completion of after action reports. Conducts or ensures classes and lessons are conducted. Responsible for effective marketing and publicity for all programs/activities to ensure maximum participation. In conjunction with the manager, establishes financial goals commensurate with market analysis of area or region. Assists in surveillance over budget projections versus expenditures and evaluates and monitors facility use and personnel expenses and payroll, maintenance, and supply costs to maintain profitability. Ensures proper inventories are conducted and verifies purchases are appropriate and adequately funded. Manages facility work orders and equipment maintenance plans. Ensures activity compliance with the hazardous waste program to include waste accumulation points, training and records maintenance IAW AF, state, and federal regulations. Develops, updates, and coordinates the publication of required Operating Instructions to ensure program compliance. Acts as the Outdoor Recreation Manager in the absence of the incumbent. Qualifying Experience: Experience that demonstrated the ability to apply the principles of one or more specialty areas of recreation. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising, or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational and arts & crafts programs. Planning, establishing, or evaluating a recreational and arts & crafts curriculum for junior or college higher academic levels. Education: Major study in general recreation, or one of the appropriate fields of recreation such as outdoor recreation; recreation and parks leadership; youth recreation; public, urban or community recreation.
