About the Position: This position is located at Fox Army Health Center (FAHC) in Huntsville, Alabama, within the Outpatient Mental Health Clinic. Normal working hours are 0730 to 1600, Monday through Friday, with no weekend or federal holiday requirements. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Major duties

Conduct rigorous biopsychosocial assessments, diagnose mental health conditions using the DSM-5-TR, and deliver targeted individual and group therapy for both acute and chronic conditions. Evaluate treatment effectiveness using objectives and measurable outcomes and makes appropriate adjustments for increased compliance and efficacy. Maintain appropriate documentation of patient care in accordance with current unit and hospital standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current DoD, DHA Federal and state regulations. Manage high-risk patients (e.g., trauma, suicidality), provide crisis intervention, and serve as a consultant to both multidisciplinary medical teams and military commanders regarding service member readiness, duty limitations, and safety planning. Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities, coordinate inter and intra-departmental in-service training on Mental Health related topics.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist (Mental Health): Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to the full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychological evaluations, providing individual or group counseling services, and implementing therapeutic treatment plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
