Major duties

NSA is seeking traffic engineers to improve traffic flow and parking for its campuses located all over the world. You'll work with master planners and project managers on traffic engineering design and planning as part of our Installation & Logistics organization, which develops facilities solutions that align with mission-driven priorities to keep the nation safe. Your responsibilities may include: - Developing traffic designs, construction plans and specifications, including design analysis, calculations and cost estimates. - Conducting field investigations or studies and writing reports. - Preparing architecture-engineer (A-E) or design-build statements of work, performance requirements and cost estimates. - Performing design quality control of in-house and A-E traffic designs. - Conducting inspections of projects under construction, reviewing construction submittals, answering contractor RFIs and validating as-constructed drawings. - Performing routine and periodic inspections of facilities and making recommendations. - Attending and leading project meetings. - Coordinating among customers, architects, other design disciplines, O&M and other stakeholders. - Managing and leading A-E contractors hired to perform engineering services. - Responding to operating facilities emergencies that require engineering support. What you need to qualify

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Architectural Engineering or Environmental Engineering. If program is not ABET accredited, it must include specified coursework.* *Specified coursework includes courses in differential and integral calculus and 5 of the following 18 areas: (a) statics or dynamics, (b) strength of materials/stress-strain relationships, (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics, (d) thermodynamics, (e) electromagnetic fields, (f) nature and properties of materials/relating particle and aggregate structure to properties, (g) solid state electronics, (h) microprocessor applications, (i), computer systems, (j) signal processing, (k) digital design, (l) systems and control theory, (m) circuits or generalized circuits, (n) communication systems, (o) power systems, (p) computer networks, (q) software development, (r) Any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, or soil mechanics. Relevant experience must be working in a civil engineering capacity (for example, storm water management, hydraulics, site development, transportation, geotechnical surveying, and structures). Additionally, must have experience using Civil Engineering Design software and computer aided design and drafting and reading design drawings. Experience may also include project management. FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience.
