Custodial Worker (UH)
What you'd do
This position is located aboard NAS Whidbey Island with Unaccompanied Housing. The purpose of this position is to provide adequate and timely custodial services to the lodging operation.
Major duties
Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times Ensures privacy is maintained at all times Must possess a welcoming manner and positive attitude, demonstrate effective communication skills, professionally interact with all customers, answer guest questions concerning the facilities, and provide information about local attractions. May assist in handling customer complaints and involving management as necessary Performs custodial duties as required inside and outside of buildings to include but not limited to trash removal, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing walls and windows, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens Cleans all lobbies, passageways, stairwells, laundry rooms, public bathrooms, and other common use areas in and around buildings Loads, unloads, and relocates heavy, bulky items such as furniture, supplies, and linen (both clean and dirty) by hand or using carts, dollies, hand trucks, or similar devices Performs deep cleaning as required: defrosting refrigerators and freezers, cleaning windows (interior and exterior), replacing and/or cleaning drapes and curtains, moving furniture, and cleaning normally hidden areas, carpet cleaning, walls and woodwork, and other such tasks. Deep cleaning may require the use of pressure washers, steam cleaners, floor budders, and carpet cleaning machines Assists management with the facility's inventory control program Performs all other related duties as assigned
What you need to qualify
Must be able to read signs, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effective with management, staff, and guests. Must have general knowledge of cleaning procedures for proper use of cleaning equipment and approved, commonly used cleaning products. Must be able to learn and follow all safety procedures. Must have ability to safely operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, cleaning compounds and solutions and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
