What you'd do

About the Position: Sierra Army Depot is located in Herlong CA, a rural town in Northern California. Herlong is approximately 60 miles north of Reno, NV, and 35 miles south of Susanville, CA. The depot serves as an Army Expeditionary Logistical Support Center. Employees work Mon-Thurs, 0630-1700 hrs. Youth Facilities and childcare available. Surrounding area boasts a full range of outdoor sports/recreation activities.

Major duties

Directs the work of police officers engaged in the enforcement of law and protection. Assigns work carried out by subordinates. Maintaining law and order where Government has jurisdiction. Purses or directs apprehension of persons fleeing crime scenes or resisting arrest. Establishing rules and regulations that abide by federal, state, and local laws.

Conditions of Employment Continued: This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position requires the incumbent to be able to wear chemical-protection equipment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes 1) Performing investigative research to resolve criminal activity; 2) Conducting law enforcement training on a regular and reoccurring basis; and 3) Providing first aid assistance in accident cases or other emergency situations. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08).
