About the Position: This position is for the Dunn Dental Clinic located on Joint Base San Antonio, Texas This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

Perform a full range of treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems requiring standard corrective, restorative or preventive measures such as extractions as well as simple and complex restorations. Enter workload production data into workload data reporting system. Leverage professional knowledge of dentistry; knowledge and skill to diagnose and treat cases; thorough understanding and knowledge of the relationships and applications of the basic sciences. Acquire intraoral impressions for crowns, occlusal guards, dentures, and bridges and fitting and inserting the finished appliances. Conduct teaching including group oral health counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, and diet counseling. Perform various preventive measures such as conducting extensive prophylaxis treatment, performing deep scaling and root planning. Responsible for the timely submission and accuracy of performance data, dental records, consultation requests and other dental records in approved information management system.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Dentist (General Practice-Dentistry): Education: Applicants must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Experience and/or Education Required: A. Applicants must have completed a 2-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science OR B. Applicants must have two years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-11). OR C. Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-11). When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than two years. Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area. Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position. Medical Requirement: Applicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.
