What you'd do

You will serve as a Telecommunications Specialist in the Waterfront Field Branch (10942), Waterfront & Production Information Technology (IT) Support Division (1094), Information Technology & Cybersecurity (ITACS) Office (109) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Major duties

You will be involved in and responsible for project planning, capabilities development, coordination, installation, management, and administration of IT physical infrastructure in support of Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY) and supported organizations. You will coordinate with other groups to install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve service interruption or service delivery issues. You will provide support for new technologies that provide connectivity and communication over different areas of the electromagnetic spectrum. You will install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot IT related physical infrastructure. This may include end user devices and various types of cables or other hardware/equipment that support device connectivity over wired or wireless connections.

What you need to qualify

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying advanced information technology concepts, principles, methods, and practices sufficient to manage and administer physical infrastructure; Experience serving as a project leader for IT physical infrastructure related assignments to include documenting project plans, resolving outstanding issues, and providing necessary updates for higher-level review; Experience serving as a subject matter expert in the analysis, planning, and evaluation of IT physical infrastructure or service delivery; Experience integrating knowledge of Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) networking principles and concepts to assist in the development of LAN/WAN systems. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing a working knowledge of information technology concepts, principles, methods, and practices sufficient to manage and administer physical infrastructure; Experience configuring, installing, maintaining, inspecting, and designing IT physical infrastructure; Experience supporting device connectivity and communication utilizing different wired and wireless technologies; Experience utilizing a working knowledge of industry standard devices, cabling, connectors, test equipment, and procedures that support IT infrastructure.
