Major duties
You will serve as an Equipment Specialist and be responsible for nd be responsible for performing work involved in collecting, analyzing, interpreting and developing specialized information about propulsion machinery systems and other hull, mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and providing such information through advisory services to those who design, test, produce, procure, supply, operate, repair or dispose of equipment. . Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Maintains extensive knowledge of primary manufacturers of assigned components and parts. Knowledge of the principles and methods for planning or managing the implementation, update, or integration of information systems components. Performing market research to obtain information to prepare purchase requests to procure or repair commercial equipment/parts for casualty response and maintenance. Developing and managing procurements as assigned. Must be able to be certified as a DHS COR II. Applies thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures used in design, procurement, maintenance, modification and repair of assigned classes of marine equipment. What you need to qualify
To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis. Serving as Configuration Data Maintenance Manager using ACMS and/or FLS and providing technical information for propulsion machinery equipment and systems. Providing plans by using ACMS and FLS developing and/or analyzing maintenance standards, making final determinations regarding the acceptance/rejection of proposed changes, and examining small boat equipment requirements are met. Providing technical advice and assistance using ACMS and/or FLS to groups in regard to modifying total equipment systems, or subsystems.
