What you'd do

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD1290000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. All SUPERVISORY positions are subject to a 1 year probationary period.

Major duties

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-10, you will plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assign tasks to be performed based on readiness and explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Plan and establish overall leave schedules. Perform non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to qualify

Military Grades: E-7 through CW4 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, you must have 36 months experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel; experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function; experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes; experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
