The incumbent is responsible for planning and directing Service Desk operations, customer service support, IT systems administration, and configuration management activities.

Major duties

The duties and responsibilities for a IT Specialist (CUSTSPT/SYSADMIN) GS-2210-13 generally include, but are not limited to, the following: Identifies and resolves recurring incidents, ensuring system performance. Oversees the evaluation and deployment of system patches and upgrades. Develops standards and criteria for assessing system performance. Performs system maintenance to support mission-essential operations. Plans customer support services to meet mission-essential needs.

What you need to qualify

To qualify for the position of IT Specialist (CUSTSPT/SYSADMIN), at GS-2210-13, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below. Basic Qualifications (2210 series): Please refer to the OPM IT Management Series 2210 Qualification Standard for the specific experience requirements for the GS-12 and above positions. AND Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-13 grade level, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable non-Federal experience. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following duties: Provides IT systems administration, customer support, service desk, and information security support. Plans and coordinates the installation, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems. You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by 07/08/2026 of this announcement.
