Supervisory Security Guard
What you'd do
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The incumbent serves as the Chief of the Guards and has overall responsibility for managing a large guard workforce with the primary function of conducting access control to the installation and additional missions.
Major duties
Manage a large guard workforce with the primary function of conducting access control. Professional competence in security to ensure management of the security force and compliance with rules and regulations. Responsible for keeping the Director of Emergency Services informed. Specifically responsible for assisting in the interpretation and implementation of directives from higher authorities. Work with employees and union representatives to resolve complaints and grievances. Establish performance standards and evaluates subordinate supervisors. Exercise responsibility in dealing with officials in other units/organizations and/or provides advice to management officials of higher grade. Review and approve training for security forces to ensure training standards meet regulatory guidelines. Publish personnel duty schedule, identify, and submit request for personnel actions, modifications or changes and award nominations.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Leading personnel who perform security procedures with a federal, state, municipal, local, or private protective organization; 2) Creating work assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to patrol areas; AND 3) Utilizing security monitoring systems and/or access control system to authorize entry. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
