Major duties

You will plan, develop, organize, administer, evaluate, and coordinate a comprehensive explosives safety program for an installation and tenant activities. You will develop specialized operating procedures and training for the prevention of and mishaps involving diverse but recognized hazards. You will review plans and specifications for new construction, building alterations, and/or changes in installation’s equipment and monitor project through completion to ensure compliance with safety codes and standards.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-10 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting explosives safety management evaluations and inspections to determine compliance with published standards; 2) Planning and executing explosives safety investigations and associated analyses of material damage and personal injury mishaps covering a wide range of work operations and environmental conditions involving a substantial number and diversity of recognizable hazards; 3) Devising specialized operating procedures affecting construction matters associated with diverse but recognized explosives hazards. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
