What you'd do
Direct hiring authority for the 1802 series is being used to fill this position in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Aviation Safety (AVS) organization. Public Notices serve as a resume repository, and positions may or may not be filled from this announcement.
Major duties
Provides expert technical knowledge and support to Aviation Safety Inspectors, the general public, stakeholders, and airmen regarding a wide variety of aviation-related topics. Extracts safety data and information from Federal Aviation Administration records to identify trends for items that affect aviation safety and enters technical findings in agency approved databases. Provides technical assistance and/or support with certification, surveillance, investigation, and/or enforcement.

To view the complete qualification standard, applicants should referent the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=Group-Standards TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE FG/GS-8 LEVEL, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG/GS-7 level. Specialized Experience* may include but not limited to: Experience demonstrating accomplishments in practical technical aviation operations; utilizing computerized database systems or knowledge of common software applications; and performing analytical skills, interpersonal and communication skills. TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE FG/GS-9 LEVEL you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the FG/GS-8 level. Specialized experience* may include but not limited to: Experience in gathering and compiling aviation safety data; analyzing aviation safety information for the purpose of identifying trends; preparing technical reports/documents; and assisting in aviation investigations such as complaints, occurrences, incidents, accidents and/or violations. Typically, preferred candidates will show technical training and/or certification experience applicable to a regulatory aviation environment. *Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
