About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Major duties

Coordinate closely with Department leadership to manage, execute, and monitor the various gift-funded margin of excellence programs within the organization. Direct budgetary and administrative compliance for these initiatives by aligning resources, securing necessary United States Military Academy (USMA) approvals, and tracking expenditures. Guide strategic donor relations and stewardship efforts in partnership with the Association of Graduates and key program leads. Advise and support program leads on administrative requirements for departmental activities, including conferences, guest speakers, and cadet/faculty travel. Oversee collaboration with external partners and agencies to deploy funding across co-curricular, extracurricular, and experiential learning opportunities. Instruct students in area of expertise within the Department's academic programs. You will support the personal growth and professional development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation.

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 3 years. Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS/KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Applicants will be evaluated on the following: 1) Academic Accomplishment (Master's Degree is preferred) in Political Science, Public Policy, and Sociology or a closely related field. 2) Demonstrated ability to lead, synchronize, and execute multiple complex programs and diverse lines of effort to achieve organizational goals. 3) Ability to communicate organizational goals clearly, assign work effectively, and provide technical and administrative guidance to staff and peer colleagues. 4) Demonstrated capacity and proven ability to plan, develop, allocate, monitor, and execute operational budgets supported by private donations, philanthropic grants, corporate sponsorships, donor funding, or non-governmental sources. 5) Ability to direct and execute comprehensive co-curricular and extracurricular programs, as well as experiential learning initiatives.
