What you'd do

This position is located within the Maintenance Branch at the United States Bullion Depository of the United States Mint in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. Duties will include janitorial services, basic facility maintenance, operating a motor vehicle and stocking supplies throughout the building. The employee will be required to pick up all necessary supplies that range from cleaning supplies, office supplies, maintenance supplies, restroom supplies and all furniture needed.

Major duties

As a General Service Worker, you will: Serve as a building service worker and provide a variety of building service tasks using cleaning methods, chemical handling procedures, and proper equipment operation and maintenance. Operate gas self-propelled ride-on and other equipment and perform full range of operator-level maintenance of equipment including inspection of fluid levels, tire pressures, and general inspection of equipment priory to operation. Operate a 1/2-to-3/4-ton pickup truck daily. This vehicle will be used in trash disposal and picking up all supplies for the Mint facility. The employee will be responsible for operating this vehicle in all types of traffic and road conditions. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, driveways and parking areas by applying ice melting chemical and/or by using powered or hand snow removal equipment; replace blown light bulbs; erect folding tables, chairs, etc., Assist with building management task as required, such as cleaning offices, exhibit space, restrooms, corridors, storage rooms, stairways or any area.

Occasionally moves items that weigh 100 pounds with assistance of various moving equipment. Physical effort could also include changing a tire and making limited emergency repairs on vehicle. Mowing the grass and snow removal requires physical efforts in various types of weather. AND You must show in your experience in the online application that you possess the knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the duties of the position. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. You must meet the screen-out element Ability To Lead Or Supervise , normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have direct experience in a supervisory or lead position leading many personnel and performing administrative duties such as; organizing, assigning and directing work assignments, purchasing raw materials and cutting tools, adjusting schedules to changing priorities to meet objectives, evaluating work performance, and working with budgets. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified.
