Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor
What you'd do
The position is located at the Salem VA Health Care System within the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 6) in Salem, VA. Incumbent supervises the Planned Maintenance and Projects Maintenance shop of the Maintenance & Operations Section, Facilities Management Service.
Major duties
Duties include but are not limited to: Managing, supervising, planning, overseeing and training of the Planned Maintenance and Projects Maintenance shop personnel. Determining labor and material costs for maintenance and repairs, minor improvements, maintenance contracts, and alterations. Furnishing advice and recommendations to services requesting work. Maintaining a comprehensive work order assignment system that details emergent, routine, short & long term work assignments. Determining equipment, supplies and maintenance required. Perform quality assurance checks on completed work assignments to ensure workmanship, adherence to safety procedures, productivity & efficiency level. Assuring that material is ordered and delivered to work sites so as not to delay work. Scheduling work assignments under the indirect supervision of the M&O Supervisor. Administering the time and leave functions. Provide technical and administrative supervision to ensure that the section staff adequately maintain and perform building repairs in an efficient and complete manner. Explaining management polices to employees and provides technical and professional administrative guidance and counseling. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
