Supervisory Police Officer
What you'd do
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As the Chief, Police/Provost Marshal Division, receives general administrative supervision from the Director, Emergency Services (DES) or Deputy (DDES) who defines scope of responsibility, objectives, priorities, and deadlines.
Major duties
Develop law enforcement programs and operating plans for the installation and is responsible for planning, supervising, and managing the operations of the division. Review and evaluate staff actions for adherence to organizational policy. Plan for current and long-range operations based on workload trends and projected requirements. Establish training programs within the department to ensure initial training, sustainment training and training on new policy and law is conducted. Advise top-level installation managers on police department issues impacting them and develop acceptable solutions to problems. Identify problem areas and makes necessary changes in policies and procedures to correct deficiencies and to meet short and long range objectives. Direct the law enforcement staff directly or indirectly through subordinate supervisors performing the various police functions. Maintain good grievance procedures and personally resolve significant employee and group complaint seeking assistance as necessary. Perform liaison with other military and civilian law enforcement agencies within the area to discuss problems, inter-agency support, future plans and needs, and exchange of information.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Direct law enforcement unit through subordinate supervisors; 2) Ensure all subordinates meet developmental and training needs; 3) Coordinate emergency responses between emergency services units; 4) Perform duties to maintain accuracy and compliance with existing policies and procedures regarding police operations and administration; 5) Prepare correspondence, plans and reports to maintain police operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
