Major duties

Assists with standard System Acceptance Test (SAT) and operational testing within the Military Pay system architecture. Analyzes assigned problem areas and recommends best approach to correct data to include systematic fixes. Initiates systems updates when feasible and ensures changes to data do not affect current payroll processing. Assists senior specialists for the pay system updates to ensure project objectives and milestones are met. Prepares impact assessments and cost benefit analysis regarding systems changes to DJMS and DMO. Helps develop and maintain standardized training materials. Train personnel on new software capabilities. Helps identify necessary internal controls. Assists in tracking new legislation changes to ensure they’re included in the military pay system functionality.

What you need to qualify

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-9) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Demonstrate the ability to analyze, test, and assist in the transition of complex payroll in Defense Joint Military Pay Systems (DJMS), including identifying operational requirements and functional gaps. Must posses experience developing training materials, validating system interfaces, and preparing assessments to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and organizational procedures. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
