What you'd do
About the Position: Lyster Army Health Clinic in Fort Rucker, AL. Work is performed in offices, mechanical rooms, construction sites, and clinical areas. Business hours are 0730-1615. After hours and/or emergency response may be required. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Major duties
Analyze, test, balance, and replace projects for all facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Provide oversight of facility operational readiness. Initiate replacement projects for critical real property systems. Screen medical equipment requests to determine utility compatibility and to plan infrastructure upgrades. Advise on facility concerns and identify complex engineering technical issues, elevating to Engineer, when needed. Write statement of work and prepare packages for validation. Develop and provide detailed budgetary data to support long-range planning and maintenance activities.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement for Engineering Technician: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring utility systems for preventive maintenance, performing quality assurance inspections of engineering work projects, and experience with contract administration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). OR Education: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education that is directly related to the work of the Engineering Technician position, such as engineering, construction, or industrial technology. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. Must have the specialized experience, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described, but less than the required three years.
