About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Barkdale AFB, Bossier City, LA 71110. This is a Regular Part-Time position offering benefits (Annual Leave, Sick Leave, 401K and Retirement). 20 hours guaranteed - May work up to 40 hours.
Major duties
As Manager, plans and administers the program and services of the Information, Ticket, and Travel (ITT) operations which includes the Leisure Travel. Determines the scope and variety of tours offered and tickets available based on the needs and interests of customers, availability of funds, facilities, transportation, and staff. Provides base and local community travel and entertainment opportunities, to include local in-house local and international tours, customized tours, entertainment packages, commercial air and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, car rentals, and vacation packages via internet e-ticketing, and other established means. Ensures tickets and/or reservations are available for a diverse variety of local attractions and entertainment events, at discounted rates whenever possible. Develops and monitors consignment contracts. Maintains active business contacts to ensure optimum quality and competitive pricing. Collects and displays a wide variety of information on recreation and entertainment opportunities within the military and local community and ensures that it is current and well displayed. Provides information and takes reservations on a variety of Services Squadron Leisure activities. Responsible for the financial performance of the operation. Prepares budgets and analyzes results, ensures proper accountability of cash and other resources to include real property, and prepares necessary administrative reports. Represents the base at military ITT gatherings and tourist industry-staged events and hospitality venues in the local community. Serves as primary point of contact for the marketing of all programs and services, coordinating regularly with the Services Marketing Director. Supervises subordinate recreation assistants and travel clerks. Interviews and hires, prepares work schedules, approves leave, assigns duties, sets standards, monitors and evaluates performance, recommends personnel actions, resolves grievances, disciplines as necessary, and maintains personnel records. Services as primary source for specialized on-the-job training such as tour planning, customer service, and tour escort skills. Required to operate general purpose vehicles. Works under the direction of the Community Support Flight Chief. May be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or shifts. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicants must have progressive experience in responsible administrative work and ticket and tour operations. Experience of education in the travel industry is required. Additionally, applicants must have demonstrated the ability to supervise. Knowledge of tourist industry and local attractions is highly preferred.
