What you'd do

An Agricultural Marketing Specialist Auditor for the Quality Assessment Division, you will primarily be responsible for conducting quality management system audits to verify compliance with a variety of domestic and international management system programs. You will also conduct audits as a part of the Livestock, Poultry Program's internal quality management system.

Major duties

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to: Arranges, conducts and manage assessments of complex quality management systems as a lead auditor, with a very low level of guidance or supervision. Plans, conducts, and reports the results of internal quality management system audits according to established procedures. Plans, conducts, manages and reports the results of independent, third-party quality management system audits of meat, livestock, poultry, and associated industry-support companies. Provides technical development support for the Livestock, Poultry, and Seed Program’s internal quality management systems and for members of the agricultural industry within their area of responsibility. Conducts formal and informal training on the quality system operation and assessment procedures for Livestock, Poultry, and Seed Program personnel and members of industry. Maintains current knowledge of relevant quality system standards, product standards and specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. FOR THE GS-09 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-07 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Organizing and planning of one or more programs with limited responsibility for work of more than average difficulty. Assisting with providing information, or taking action following general guidelines concerning basic marketing operations pertaining to a broad field of marketing through written and/or oral communications. Assisting with preparing reports from developed findings and recommendations under the supervision of mentors. This also includes agricultural marketing work not specifically described or covered by another functional specialization. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in Marketing, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Mathematics, Statistics or related field; OR LL.B or J.D. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. FOR THE GS-11 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-09 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Organizing and planning of one or more programs at journeyman level for work of more than average difficulty. Providing information, or taking action following general guidelines concerning basic marketing operations pertaining to a broad field of marketing through written and/or oral communications. Independently preparing reports from developed findings and recommendations. This also includes agricultural marketing work not specifically described or covered by another functional specialization. OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in Marketing, Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Mathematics, Statistics or related field OR LL.M. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required if: You are qualifying for the position based on education. You are qualifying for this position based on a combination of experience and education. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-9/11 GRADE LEVELS: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
