Major duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for Budget Analysis. Typical work assignments will include: Participates in the planning and development of budget estimates for the district. Monitors the use and rate of expenditure of budgeted funds through continuing communication with program officials and their staff, review of written documents, and examination of accounting records. Executes financial and administrative duties for a variety of programs assigned to the unit. Performs other related duties as assigned. Participating in short and long-range programmatic and budget planning; Preparing budget estimates and maintaining budget submissions; Conducting in-depth analysis of information and preparing statistical budget reports; Analyzing and identifying problematic trends and patterns during the budget execution process; Analyzing data and providing recommendations for cost reductions; Developing financial policies and procedures; Advising management officials. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
What you need to qualify
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: advising management on programmatic effectiveness relative to financial objectives; analyzing expenditure data affecting costs; providing in-depth analysis and advice pertaining to short and long-range financial management plans; managing obligations, expenditures and available balances; identifying and analyzing problematic trends and patterns; preparing for periodic audits and financial reviews; providing comprehensive technical advice and assistance Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
