Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters, Office of the Chief, located in Washington, D.C.

Major duties

This position starts at a salary of $143,913.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $187,093.00 (GS-14, Step 10). As a Supervisory Audiovisual Production Specialist, typical duties include: Supervising and leading a team of audiovisual specialists, setting short and long-term goals, assigning work, evaluating performance, and providing training and feedback to maintain high-quality multimedia output. Planning and directing audiovisual productions from concept through completion, providing creative direction, solving complex production problems, and overseeing high-profile or sensitive projects for internal and external audiences. Managing post-production and digital media efforts, reviewing and approving final products to ensure technical quality, message accuracy, and strict adherence to DHS/CBP branding and publication standards. Overseeing audiovisual equipment and asset management, including inventory, maintenance, repairs, scheduling of equipment and personnel, and recommending technology upgrades to maintain modern, cost-effective capabilities. Coordinating with leadership, subject matter experts, and vendors to validate content, align products with organizational communication objectives, and manage related budgets and procurement activities.

What you need to qualify

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Coordinating end to end audiovisual and multimedia production projects (from concept development through production, post production, and distribution) for internal and external audiences, to include providing creative direction, solving complex production problems, and ensuring products effectively convey key messages. Managing an organizational audiovisual or digital media program, including reviewing and approving multimedia content for large-scale distribution, ensuring adherence to branding/publication standards and technical quality requirements, and coordinating with subject matter experts to validate the accuracy and currency of information presented. Overseeing audiovisual equipment and digital media asset management, including maintaining inventories, coordinating installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment, advising on technology procurement and upgrades, and planning for resource needs to support events and ongoing production requirements. Coordinating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders (such as senior leaders, program offices, and vendors) on high visibility or sensitive audiovisual projects, including advising on audiovisual best practices, tailoring products for specific target audiences, and managing schedules, budgets, and resources to meet established timelines and organizational objectives. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 07/10/2026.
