Major duties

You will be responsible for the coordination of the routine daily monitoring of the automated generation of operational USNO products and ensuring access to these products. You will interact with USNO product users, discuss product availability and not potential problems reported to the Operations Center. You will be the team lead for employees within the operations center. You will distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with the established workflow or job specialization. You will monitor USNO operational activities including the USNO Master Clock time, Earth Orientation Parameter (EOP) solutions, Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) correlation, and Information Technology (IT) systems and connectivity. You will be responsible for managing the reporting of major outages, incidents, and communications with external and internal customers. You will be the technical lead for the development and maintenance of Ops Center SOPs, and for conducting Ops Center training and executing exercises. You will discuss operations with the Department Head and other members of the USNO staff to ensure optimal functionality of the Operations Center.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: The incumbent must have a mastery of principles and practices in Physical Sciences with specific knowledge of scientific instrumentation, services, and the Information Technology infrastructure that supports scientific data product delivery.
