Major duties

You will be responsible for ordering, acceptance and coordinating with any provider all communications circuits, data/telephone, terminated at or passing through Marine Corp Base (MCB) Quantico. You will provide situation awareness via notification and reporting problems related to possible network degradation or unavailability due to circuit related problems. You will conduct monitoring, technical inspections and coordinate maintenance of al 7 Area Distribution Nodes that provide communications across the installation. You will provide situation awareness via notification and reporting problems related to network degradation or unavailability due to circuit related problems and directly accountable for the timeliness and accuracy of all authorized user communiques. You will report any issues or problems to the Head, Telecommunications Branch and tracks any and all issues that may impact the installation core communications capability.

What you need to qualify

GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing end-to-end circuit life cycles, base-wide outage coordination, and oversee the health of all seven Area Distribution Nodes. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providng support on telecommunication systems and information systems network, handling routine circuit coordination, draft outage notifications, and track trouble tickets. 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Taking a thorough, conscientious approach to work performed. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying a client or customer need and providing a quality product or service. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Expressing information via oral presentation. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Identifying problem, ascertaining root cause and impact, and providing recommendations for resolution.
