About the Position: This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii at Tripler Army Medical Center in the Directorate of Mental Health. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Major duties
Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients presenting with complex psychiatric conditions and co-occurring disorders. Provide intensive individual and group psychotherapy utilizing evidence-based interventions within an interdisciplinary Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans addressing mood, anxiety, trauma-related, personality, substance use, and other behavioral health conditions. Manage a high-acuity clinical caseload requiring sound clinical judgment, timely documentation, and adherence to Department of Defense and professional practice standards. Facilitate crisis assessment, suicide risk management, and safety planning while promoting patient stabilization and recovery. Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary treatment team to coordinate care, monitor progress, and optimize clinical outcomes. Contribute to program development, quality improvement initiatives, and the advancement of evidence-based intensive outpatient services. Provide clinical supervision, consultation, or training to psychology trainees, psychiatry residents, or other behavioral health staff as program needs and individual qualifications support.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirements for Counseling Psychologist (Substance Abuse): Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology (such as Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Professional Counseling). In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting clinical assessments; formulating behavioral health treatment plans or recommendations; and providing individual and/or group psychotherapy to adult patients. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Licensure: A current, active, valid, unrestricted Master's Level counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required
