Major duties

Works under close supervision wherein the work is closely reviewed/monitored and detailed guidance provided. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment, after which the incumbent will be reassigned to lifeguard duties at an aquatic facility. Training includes lifeguarding, First Aid (American Red Cross or equivalent like Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS) and American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional rescuer or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED). For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: 'Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED' (American Red Cross). Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training. For facilities using Oxygen Administration, the Oxygen Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration" or equivalent training like from the Fire Department) must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty.
