What you'd do

You will serve as a Custodian (MVO) - Field Unit Local (FUL) Hiring Authority at Bryce Canyon National Park

Major duties

The primary purpose of this position is to provide custodial maintenance, grounds keepings, and minor park maintenance work in the Division of Maintenance. In addition, this position operates motor vehicles as a regular and recurring part of the position. The incumbent works under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor. Some examples of duties that will be performed: Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures throughout the park. Replaces and/or installs paper goods, etc, in restrooms. Scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using heavy (industrial type) powered scrubbers and buffers. Washes walls using powered wall washing machine and/or by hand. Vacuums/cleans rugs using heavy vacuum cleaner. Adjusts, cleans and oils these machines and changes brushes, rollers, buffers, and other attachments on them. Washes and replaces blinds and washes ceiling fixtures and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment. Uses various preparations to clean and maintain linoleum, wood, marble, and various kinds of floor, wall and ceiling surfaces. Removes stains from a variety of surfaces using chemicals and cleaning solutions. Career Seasonal: This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will work a minimum of 25 pay periods to a maximum of 25 pay periods and be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. The typical season for Bryce Canyon National Park is Jan-Dec (Non-pay period 12/27/26 - 1/9/27).

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) - 1 Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints) - 75B Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment - 81 Dexterity and Safety - 86 Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) 25A Selective Placement Factor: This position requires that the incumbent possess a Driver's License. You will be expected on a regular and recurring basis to operate light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites locate on the park If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Federal employees seeking CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit proof that they meet the requirements of 5 CFR 330.605(2) for CTAP and 5 CFR 330.704 for ICTAP. This includes a copy of the agency notice, a copy of their most recent Performance Rating, and a copy of their most recent SF-50 noting current position, grade level, and duty location.
