Major duties

Works under the supervision of the Materials Sorting Supervisor who issues instructions on procedures, methods and deadlines, and relies on incumbent to assure work assignments are carried out by other members of the recycling activity. Follows established procedures in receiving, checking, verifying, sorting, and classifying materials and equipment by condition. Work is usually performed in a Recycle processing center The incumbent collects, receives, identifies sorts, moves material to the baler machine, and operates the baler insuring the material is correct for the process. Operates gas or diesel-powered forklift trucks capable of lifting up to 6,000 pounds and positioning loads as high as 168 inches, In addition, incumbent will operate the forklift to load truck trailers using inclined ramps. Will be required to drive a 21⁄2 ton, stable body and a stake body truck with a gross weight of more than 7,000 pounds, but less than 22,000 pounds, collect recycle material from the community and from operating units on post. Performs other duties as assigned
