About the Position: Serves as Supervisory Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation) over a group of employees performing medical clerk, receptionist, record keeping, files management, office automation, and miscellaneous clerical duties in a large Womack Army Medical Center medical clinic. The clinic provides services in a variety of medical specialties. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Major duties
Organize and schedule the clerical work in accordance with established priorities, policies and procedures. Assign work, daily, weekly or monthly to employees, providing special instructions as necessary for new or unusual assignments. Assure that quality, quantity, and accuracy requirements are met. Provide on-the-job training to newly assigned clerks. Recommend training and developmental needs of employees. Brief Unit Commanders, soldiers, family members and groups on clinic policies, procedures, and issues. Assisting with customer concerns.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing receptionist duties, record keeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting; experience with entering, manipulating and/or retrieving data from automated systems; maintaining patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation; and/or scheduling appropriate patient appointments manually and/or in automated systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Healthcare Administration, Healthcare Management, Public Health Administration, or related fields such as Business or Public Administration with course work in Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
