SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST

Major duties
You will serve as the Deputy Department Head of Precise Time and supervise a staff of professional scientists and engineers. You will plan and assign work, evaluate performance, give advice, counsel and instruction. You will resolve conflicts and complaints, identify developmental and training needs. You will demonstrate expertise in the field of Time and Frequency. You will guide the work required to develop new concepts and theories as well as integrate new, advanced timing and time-dissemination systems. You will apply the rapidly evolving state-of -the-art concepts in a variety of fields (e.g., engineering, computing, physics) to meet operational needs. You will synthesize information from a variety of highly technical and complex sources.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience as a senior-level scientist and must have professional knowledge of numerical analysis, statistics and computational techniques. Experience with the instrumentation required for precise timekeeping and time dissemination. Experience with Program management tasks which involve requirements analysis, strategic planning, preparing and tracking budget, approving procurements, performing risk assessment and reduction. Experience ensuring that production deadlines are met, providing technical guidance, maintaining external collaborations, ensuring the quality of the products, and reporting on the status of the program.
