What you'd do

You will serve as a Firefighter (Paramedic/Hazardous Materials Technician) of NAS PENSACOLA.

Major duties

You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities that may include research and/or large industrial complexes. You will perform pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with the layout, fire hazards, and location of fixed fire protection systems. You will assist in the development of special protective services for structures imposing extreme hazards.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) controlling or extinguishing advanced fires involving structures, aircraft, and other complex hazards as a member of an organized fire department; 2) performing advanced rescue operations including vehicle extrication and confined space rescue; 3) providing Advanced Life Support (ALS) as a nationally registered Paramedic; 4) operating fire apparatus and communications equipment during emergency incidents; 5) controlling and mitigating complex hazardous materials incidents; and/or 6) participating in ongoing training in advanced firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical techniques. This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, HAZMAT Technician, Driver Operator-Pumper, Driver Operator ARFF, Driver Operator Aerial, National Registry EMT (Paramedic), These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
