Major duties
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list A AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC LEADER (T32), WL, 8602, 10, (1) Provides direction to resolve problems on aircraft engines and propellers in a field level environment. Leads three or more engine mechanic subordinates in diagnosing malfunctions, troubleshooting, and evaluating propulsion performance tests to determine the disassembly necessary for repair or replacement of parts. (2) Monitors work of assigned personnel, set the work pace, convey work assignments, and ensure that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Coordinates and works with aircraft mechanics and specialist personnel performing journey level work. (3) Ensures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Ensures that all safety, housekeeping, security, and other environmental rules and procedures are followed in shop and the flight line. (4) Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements. (5) Routinely works with and alongside journey-level counterparts. (6) Performs other duties as assigned.

GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: Minimum Requirements: WG (WU in Puerto Rico) - Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures, and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. Specialized Experience: WG -10 and above - Experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories. Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and powertrains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical records, and diagnosis. WL (All Grade Levels) - In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience demonstrating the ability to plan, organize, and lead the work of others in fields directly related to the repair function of this occupational series. Must have the ability to perform administrative functions; to read and interpret a variety of technical publications used in the repair of supported equipment. The ability to guide others in work related directly to this occupational series. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc., Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic),Use of Measuring Instruments, Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (Includes blueprint reading), Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment, Trouble shooting Experience requirements: Resume must have complete dates, work schedule, and/or hours worked per week for both civilian and military employment. (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only and unspecified work schedule will result in disqualification.
