What you'd do
About the Position: This position is located at: Department of War Education Activity, DoWEA Americas, Americas Mid-Atlantic District, Antilles High School, Fort Buchanan, Puerto Rico. This is an ARMY JROTC position. The Army Instructor will receive Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP).Enlisted Instructor (E-9) will be placed at a Grade Level 10. Enlisted Instructor (E-8 or below) will be placed at a Grade Level 09. Again, the Army Instructor will receive Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP).
Major duties
Conduct first and/or second level military science courses Ensure proper wearing of uniforms and equipment Conduct uniform and equipment inspections Teach all leadership classes Write and conduct drill competitions Create and maintain all organizational files Prepares Master schedule for JROTC department Attends summer camp when necessary Maintains inventory of uniforms and equipment for the program
What you need to qualify
Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Education Requirement: Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) - Army JROTC NCO Instructors hold a current certification to teach JROTC from United States Army (USA) headquarters services department. AND Specialized Experience: Must meet one of the following pathways outlined in 10 USC 2031: Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps: A. Retired Army Non-Commissioned Officer or Army Warrant Officer whose qualifications are approved by the Secretary and the institution concerned and who request such employment; B. Army Non-Commissioned Officer or Army Warrant Officer who are separated with an honorable discharge within the past 5 years with at least 8 years of service and are approved by the Secretary and the institution concerned and who request such employment; or C. Army Non-Commissioned Officer or Army Warrant Officer who are active participating members of the selected reserve at the time of application, for purposes of section 101(d) of this title, and have not yet reached retirement eligibility and are approved by the Secretary and the institution concerned and who request such employment. **Note** Per 10 USC 2031: Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps Only Army Non-Commissioned Officer or Army Warrant Officer applicants are eligible.
