This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Facilities and Personal Property Management Division. This position is responsible for developing, supporting special programs, events, and services for employees and visitors at the National Archives in College Park. These programs and services are offered to provide employee assistance and to enhance the workplace.

Major duties

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-11. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Support Services Specialist, you will: Serve as Coordinator for PTSP for all NARA employees, managing all aspects of the program. Coordinate the Public Transit Subsidy Program (PTSP) for the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) nationwide. Develop and conduct internal management control oversight of the programs and services to ensure no fraud, waste, or abuse. Serve as the agency focal point for information regarding community services and events offered by NARA. Assess the need for the planned expansion or adaptation of programs and services offered.

What you need to qualify

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Communicating with both internal and external stakeholders to coordinate, plan and/or organize operations to meet deadlines or streamline processes; AND Researching, assembling and summarizing data from multiple sources to prepare reports and other forms of correspondence; AND Demonstrating customer service skills, such as conflict resolution and timely responses to inquiries. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 3 years of graduate education or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Communicating with both internal and external stakeholders; AND Researching, assembling and summarizing data from multiple sources to prepare reports and other forms of correspondence; AND Demonstrating customer service skills such as answering and directing calls and/or receiving and greeting customers and employees. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 2 years of graduate education or a master's or equivalent graduate degree. OR COMBINATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following requirements, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F):Time-in-Grade: For the GS-11, you must have been at the GS-09 level for 52 weeks. For the GS-09, you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
