Major duties
You will be responsible for ensuring efficient production of electric power by gas turbine generators, ensuring proper distribution of purchased electricity and distribution of heat for heating and cooling for most of the facilities on base. You will operate the entire system of the Cogeneration Plants consisting of three Gas Turbine Generators that can produce 16.4 MW total, photovoltaic system that can produce 9.3 MW, five boilers capable of producing 160 MBTU of heat per hour. You will closely monitor HMI computer screens to detect large changes in load and operate Cogeneration turbines and other generating equipment to adapt to these load changes, and maintain the optimum demand on commercial sources. You will coordinate electric operation with supporting or related work functions supervisors for alternating current and direct current equipment to control and distribute electrical power through the primary and secondary distribution systems. You will check and adjust heat output capacity and electrical generation to meet varying loads. You will stage boilers to meet anticipated requirements of electrical production as the base increases or reduce during off peak times. You will coordinate with supporting or related work functions supervisors for all electrical line repairers or failures of equipment, repairs needed and assure that circuits are open, isolated, and tagged before work is started. You will closely monitor data from existing metering from breakers, substations, SCADAMATE switches and observe operation of feeder relays and substations. You will connect, disconnect, parallel, or substitute electrical units or conductors in coordination with the Electrical Supervisor or by remote control from the HMI and computer-controlled equipment.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION performing the following: 1) Assist with distributing and controlling electrical distribution systems; 2) Assist with operating control boards to remotely control breakers, transformers and switches 3) Interpreting operating instructions and distribution equipment operating criteria to determine the proper time to switch in other feeders.
