BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN (WILDLIFE)

Major duties
You will collect and assemble data from wildlife for use by management, and state and federal agencies. You will perform routine maintenance of Red-cockaded Woodpecker cavity trees through manual removal of vegetation and control burning. You will perform beach monitoring for nesting sea turtles. You will record biological information from nesting sea turtles and tag individual turtles following guidelines as established by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. You will record and maintains accurate records of information and biological data collected.
What you need to qualify
GS-05 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: monitoring, protecting, and management of threatened, endangered, and protected species; collecting and managing biological data; using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and data entry skills; marking habitat by installing paint, posts, and signs, using brush cutters and other hand tools to clear vegetation around red-cockaded woodpecker cavity trees. GS-04 Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience and six months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting in the conservation and management of wildlife resources on land.
