What you'd do

The primary purpose of the position is organizing, processing, developing, managing, disseminating information, and performing administrative support duties within the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff for Education office and serve as the coordinator for New Employee Orientation training activities.

Major duties

Duties Include but are not limited to: Provides administrative support to the deputy Associate Chief of Staff/Education and Education service related to administrative matters which include organizing, record keeping, management, directing, and participating in administrative duties that require networking with both clinical and administrative services throughout Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, associated affiliate partners and the community. Provides education and guidance as needed regarding the action processes for Education Service programs Orients new staff to the administrative and logistics aspects of the Education office Assists with the development and/or revision of section SOPs, reporting tools, electronic platforms, and supporting resource materials for the DACOS/E sections Creates and maintains several databases of documents and associated items to ensure timely revision as directed Coordinates activities and advertisements for education events and activities. What you need to qualify

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/09/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Perform administrative and clerical work in support of the office. Operation of reproduction equipment, typing, record keeping, and filing procedures. Use office software and hardware to create spreadsheets, compile reports, data processing, correspondences and other documents. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Coordinate staff hiring, employment requirements, scheduling, and arrange coverage options. Monitor and report time and attendance to ensure employees are paid in a timely manner. Communicate office functions and requirements. Receive and screen all incoming phone calls routing call to the appropriate person. Provide customer service to visitors, patients and their families, staff, employees and service officers. Manages and provides budget support functions: Compiles, gathers, and maintains financial data and initiates purchasing for equipment and other supply needs.
