Major duties

You will lead one or more compliance programs (e.g., hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, aboveground storage tanks, spill preparedness and response, wastewater, drinking water, environmental management, munitions, medical waste, etc.) You will be responsible for administering environmental programs and providing engineering services. You will serve as the lead technical expert, subject matter expert, and coordinator for Environmental Compliance Programs. You will assist the Supervising Environmental Engineer with the development and execution of plans, monitoring programs, correspondence, point papers, meetings, committees, briefings, training, etc. You will identify compliance requirements, permits, and variances needed for construction projects. You will perform additional duties at the direction and discretion of supervisors/leadership.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serving as a technical expert to develop, plan, and implement major environmental compliance programs; 2) Authoring scopes of work, permits, and environmental impact documentation; 3) Reviewing engineering plans and specifications to ensure strict compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations; 4) Coordinating with contractors and multi-disciplinary teams; 5) Tracking short-term and long-term program goals 6) Evaluating policy changes to advise leadership regarding abatement and environmental management systems (EMS). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
