Major duties
Receive, track, and prioritize incoming requests via email or phone and respond as appropriate. Maintain subject matter files and records that relate to the work of the assigned department; establishing and maintaining logs showing status of actions and correspondence. Review purchase requests for accuracy, submits requests to designated authority, and monitors and tracks procurement actions through all processing stages until completed. Review and distribute outgoing correspondence for accuracy, completeness and formatting. Utilize various software and systems, including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, file management and control, electronic mail, and calendars, in accordance with applicable business practices and established guidelines. Prepares, processes, and tracks purchase orders for equipment, office supplies, and materials. Utilize Defense Travel System (DTS) to make travel arrangements and prepare travel vouchers for department staff following complex rules and regulations. Manage department Defense Medical Human Resources System Internet (DMHRSI) reporting responsibilities, including performing duties and responsibilities of the Departmental DMHRSI Timekeeper. Coordinates space and resources for department and organization conferences and meetings as directed. Process access requests, manages permissions, and conducts familiarization training for applicable databases and information systems.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Utilizing a computer to produce correspondence and reports, entering data into various software systems to maintain files. Responding to customer inquiries in person or phone. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
