Range Safety Officer
What you'd do
About the Position: Serves as the Installation Range Safety Officer and Assistant Range Officer with full authority to carry out all aspects of the Range Safety Program. Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 5 years , if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of six years.
Major duties
Works jointly with the Installation Range Officer and Range Operations Officer in the planning, development, and execution of safety programs. Manages the Range Safety Program. Ensures that installation range safety requirements are adhered to in the scheduling of range use, maintenance, modification, and installation of ranges, and use of training facilities. Advises Commanders and Unit Training Officers on current and anticipated future policies, objectives, and programs as they pertain to range facility operations.

Specialized Experience: Have one year of specialized experience which includes the following. knowledge of range safety regulations, and the experience to plan, develop and execute the programs, policies and procedures involved in the safe operation of live fire ranges and training areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Customer Service Decisiveness Flexibility Interpersonal Skills Problem Solving Resilience Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
