What you'd do

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Civilian Personnel Records Center. The incumbent is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of a team of employees engaged in providing Reference and Operations work pertaining to military and/or civilian medical and personnel records, various general purpose and local Federal agency records, and military organizational records. .

Major duties

As a Supervisory Archives Technician, you will: Supervise a subordinate staff consisting of approximately 10 to 15 archives aids and archives technicians. Coordinate operations of the unit. Assign duties, answer questions, interpret or explain policies and regulations. Develop and write procedures regarding unit work assignments and policies. Prepare, issue, and monitor routine internal instructions and procedures. Conduct staff meetings to convey and discuss suggestions, changes and new policies or procedures, which effect section operations.

What you need to qualify

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For the GS-07, specialized experience is defined as one year of experience at the GS-06 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position, and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes: Assisting with workload distribution. AND Coordinating records transfer procedures. AND Communicating with various levels of internal contacts and management. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following requirements, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): Time-in-Grade: For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
