About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Fort Carson, CO. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Major duties

Perform a range of diagnostic examinations and treatments according to clinic processes and procedures. Prepare patients and rooms for patient care activities, examinations and diagnostic tests Set up equipment and instrument and hands instruments to health care providers Clean wounds and applies bandages after suturing and assists in removal of sutures, staples and dressings. Schedule appointment with the appropriate clinic and health care provider dependent on patient disposition, complaint or symptoms or services requested. Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups in accordance with established protocols. Obtain lab samples, perform point of care testing, and deliver specimens directly to the lab.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes performing non-professional nursing or medical support duties such as assisting healthcare providers with medical examinations, conducting patient screenings, and collecting specimens. OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR I have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have some education leading to a bachelor's degree but less than required in B. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) **A Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification or a Registered Medical Assistant Certification will need to be obtained within 1 year of hiring date. The organization does not pay for this certification and it will need to be completed on personal time.**
