This position is in the Eligibility and Enrollment section within the Patient Business Service Department at VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio. The employee serves as the Enrollment Coordinator for the facility.

Major duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include but are not limited to the following: Plan work priorities, resource needs, and short-term goals for eligibility and enrollment operations. Assign daily eligibility, enrollment, and pre-registration work based on priorities and staff capabilities. Monitor schedules, leave, and workload distribution to maintain adequate section coverage. Evaluate employee work performance against established standards and requirements. Counsel employees on performance, conduct, and administrative work matters. Train staff on eligibility, enrollment, customer service, and administrative procedures. Determine applicant eligibility for health care access using governing laws, regulations, and policies. Review and process enrollment applications in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain accurate enrollment, demographic, and insurance information in program databases. Analyze enrollment trends and report findings to support planning and outreach. Resolve eligibility, enrollment, and patient information discrepancies. Conduct pre-registration contacts to verify and update Veteran demographic and insurance information. Perform other related duties as assigned. TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-9 GRADE LEVEL, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-8) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes supervising administrative support staff by assigning work and evaluating performance; managing personnel functions such as recruitment, leave administration, and/or disciplinary actions; applying policies or procedures to resolve administrative actions; and using automated systems to manage, track, or report program data. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
