Major duties
You will serve as a FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES of COMMANDER, NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (N30). You will serve as a Firefighter assigned to a crew engaged in the full range of firefighting and rescue operations. You will provide basic emergency medical care and transportation. You will assist in reducing and/or eliminating potential fire hazards to protect persons, property, or the environment following Navy established procedures and protocols.
What you need to qualify
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, volunteer, or governmental fire department/brigade. 2) Performing rescue operations as a team member, and 3) Operating firefighting equipment such as fire alarm systems, fire extinguishing equipment, and other similar equipment. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
