About the Position: Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC), 9300 DeWitt Loop, Ft. Belvoir, VA 22060. Medical Library, Sunrise Pavilion, Rm. S1.902a. Office hours: 0730-1600 (M-F) This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
Manage the day-to-day operations and oversight of the Human Research Protection Program. Serve as the subject matter expert and consultant for Clinical Investigation for all research conducted for the MTF. Develop the post approval compliance program to ensure compliance of programs with applicable regulations Assist in the development and updating of the regulatory and compliance policies, standard operating procedures, requirements and related matters. Establishe training programs in human subjects’ protection and HIPAA compliance. Serve as the accountable official for maintaining the MTF’s DOW Institutional Assurance and ensuring compliance with federal and DOW regulations governing human subjects research. Provide oversight of IRB implementation, post-approval monitoring, compliance auditing, noncompliance reporting, regulatory liaison activities, and corrective action oversight. Implements the post approval compliance program to ensure compliance of programs with applicable regulations.

Basic Requirement for Health Program Coordinator (Patient Safety): Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of your transcript. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing day-to-day operations of the Human Research Protection program; serving as the subject matter expert and consultant for Clinical Investigation for all research conducted for the Military Treatment Facility; assisting in the development and updating of the regulatory and compliance policies, standard operating procedures, requirements and related matters; establishing training programs in human subjects' protection and HIPPAA Compliance; ensuring compliance with federal and DOW regulations governing human subject research. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
