What you'd do

You will serve as an Engineering Technician in the T and E Management for Programs and Ops (TEMPO), NTWL Resources and Operations Division, Resources and Operations Branch of NAVTESTWINGLANT NWCF.

Major duties

You will provide coordination for the complete instrumentation systems within the assigned Squadron by advising contractors on approved instrumentation methods and procedures and perform research and tests to develop new measurement techniques. You will plan, design, manage, and coordinate complex instrumentation installations for the assigned section by evaluating numerous system requirements, and analyzing other critical factors affecting system performance and cost You will ensure overall system data quality by witnessing contractor calibrations and advising contractors on best installation methods and practices to ensure optimum system performance. You will direct the work of engineers and other technicians assigned to the installation team and coordinates efforts of the various shops and laboratories. You will keep abreast of the latest engineering technological advances as well as state-of-the-art applications pertinent to the development of new products in the aircraft instrumentation field. You will advise others within the instrumentation community (both contractor and government) on how to assimilate advanced technologies. You will coordinate project planning with program sponsors from engineering competencies to limit cost and aircraft downtime.

What you need to qualify

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Serve as a technical lead or instrumentation specialist applying project management and engineering principles to design, develop, install, test, and evaluate complex airborne instrumentation systems and prototypes on VX-23 aircraft platforms; 2) Advanced problem-solving skills utilizing computer applications to analyze data, evaluate equipment modifications, adapt engineering precedents, and generate accurate schedule and cost estimates that balance mission and stakeholder interests; 3) Strong oral and written communication skills are required to clearly articulate complex concepts, prepare technical documentation, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, pilots, and contractors to resolve technical differences and ensure system data quality; 4) Adherence to strict safety, HAZMAT, and relevant Test Wing Instrumentation technical standards and the capability to perform physical duties in demanding environments like aircraft hangars or ships.
