SUPERVISORY HEALTH TECHNICIAN (PARAMEDIC)
What you'd do
About the Position: This position is located in the Emergency Department of ATAMMC, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Applicants should be available to work on any shift, weekends, holidays, etc. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Major duties
Supervise a staff of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Paramedics. Ensure that the work of the shift is organized and scheduled to assure expeditious handling of emergencies that may occur over course of the assigned shift. Perform invasive, advanced life support procedures. Assure uniform application of administrative and operating policies and procedures. Monitor operations and quality of Emergency response.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes directing subordinates on workload; spot checking work in accordance with established policies and procedures; provide on the job training to new employees; respond to medical emergencies involving injury/illness; operate emergency and patient transport vehicle; have experience working in a medical facility/Emergency Department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone.
