DATA SCIENTIST
What you'd do
You will serve as a Data Scientist in the Analytics Group, Commander, Fleet Readiness Centers (COMFRC) in Patuxent River, Maryland.
Major duties
You will design and maintain robust pipelines that extract, transform and load (ETL/ELT) data from various sources into data warehouses, data lakes, or other storage systems. You will work with analytics product and service teams to identify new data stream requirements to support analysis and machine learning products. You will build analytic tools to monitor and provide decision support for optimal storage, access, and data flow strategies.
What you need to qualify
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Strong foundational mix of technical data science expertise and domain-specific knowledge, including proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and Databricks, alongside an understanding of machine learning algorithms, data normalization, and U.S. Naval Aviation maintenance, supply, and logistics data systems. Must also bring strong problem-solving, leadership, and technical communication skills to brief at all levels. Experience extracting and cleansing data from Naval Aviation management information systems, developing baseline mathematical or statistical models under closer supervision, and interacting with stakeholders across the Naval Aviation Enterprise to build the necessary advisory and interpersonal skills for high-level decision support.
